I could sit down and have a beer with Luther, Walther, or any other Lutheran father and have a meaningful discussion of theology, politics, philosophy, or any of a dozen other subjects without any abiding and essential disagreements.

If the head of any major ‘Lutheran’ group were to do so, Luther would be over the table strangling him inside of ten minutes.


If you just took the symbols employed by the various militaries of WWII and showed them to a man with no previous knowledge of the conflict, the parties, et cetera, but with a knowledge of Christianity and basic symbology, he would — without fail — correctly identify the parties.
