To be clear: I would very much prefer the American and Chinese nations be on good terms (at a distance), but that is not where we are today.

And China would need to abandon its hegemonic ambitions for such a future to come to pass.

We must make it so that merely contemplating attacking the United States is utterly unthinkable for the Chinese.

The US position with regard to China must be this:

If the Chinese drop a single bomb anywhere on US territory or deploy a single mechanized asset anywhere on US territory or activate any of their malware embedded in US infrastructure, then we will erase China from the map.
