I walked by this graveyard many times while living in Berlin (it was between my apartment and the central museums). By the time I lived there, the grave had gone through the following:
- Communists, after the war, destroyed everything but the names.
- Communists dug up the remains (and the remains of his brother) and (presumably) threw them in the nearby river.
- Communists destroyed everything but “Wessel” — marking the grave of Horst’s father.
- The headstone was removed and the ground levelled.
When I say they will erase everything, I am not exaggerating in the least.
